How They Should Have Done The Change

I understand that the new World of Darkness rule changes are a good
thing. Yea! And their easy to learn if you liked Abberant. Yea
Again!!

I understand the desire to strip the new World of Darkness of a
meta-plot. That's not what I would have done but it's fine with me as
long as the associated White Wolf fiction does tell a reasonably
cohesive set of stories.

But I have alot of time and energy spent in learning the old World of
Darkness setting. I have a good feel for what a Gangrel is. With the
new World of Darkness that knowledge must be relearned. I have a bunch
of new clans to memorize. It seems to me they should have kept the
basic clan structure in tact, just to keep the amount of learning for
experienced players to a minimum.

Reasonable changes would have been fine as long as they kept the same
theme and name. It's fine to drop the Ravanos, if you want. It's fine
to say that not all Toreadore can be mesmerized by shiney pretty
things. But they should have kept the basic framework just to make my
job of learning the setting easier.

I don't think I really agree. Or, rather, I think they /did/ keep the
basic framework -- the Denver Rockies is the iconic setting for
Werewolf: The Forsaken, for instance, and it very much feels like a
Werewolf: The Apocalypse setting, in that you've got a guy who assigns
jobs to multi-tribal packs while the spirit world lies confused and
relatively devastated and needs repairing.
