I have an old mobo with an AMD FX 6300, I tried activating AMD Turbo but the PC crashes at login.
(Screen changes Black but PC is still running, can't power down via Power Button) I tried updating the Bios but MSI Live Update tells me that my Bios is up to date. I looked on google for any guides but I came up empty handed.

System:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
CPU: AMD FX 6300 Vishera 6 core Black Edition.
GPU: EVGA GTX 1060 6gb
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 750w

Solution
I might have a few suggestions for that. I'll take a look at it after while for sure and get back with you on a recommendation. I think you can do much better than some of those parts and stay within your budget.

What is the EXACT model number of your power supply?

What is the EXACT model number of your motherboard?

Have you tried resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard for a few minutes, with the power off, and then putting it back in and powering on?

So, unfortunately those are both lower quality, but the motherboard is definately the bigger problem.

The Smart series power supplies are terrible examples of what a name brand power supply should be, but at 750w, which is probably only consistently about 500w on that unit, it should still be ok so long as nothing is wrong with the power supply itself, which there might be. Wouldn't be surprising since that unit uses rather cheap caps.

How old is that power supply as far as how long has it been in service?

The motherboard is a different story. That board should never have been used with any FX6 or FX8 cpu. It has very poor power phase, with low end VRMs and power delivery. Use of an FX6 or 8 core CPU have likely caused serious thermal fatigue and you are probably seeing capacitor or voltage regulator failure, or electrical fatigue. If you wish to continue using that platform I'd highly recommend a new or at least new to use, higher quality motherboard. Better by far would be to just upgrade the whole platform but that would be a more costly investment, in the neighborhood of about 240 bucks for an entry level Ryzen or i3 upgrade for CPU, motherboard and memory.

These are the boards that I'd recommend as being suitable for use with that FX 6 core CPU. The closer to the top of the list, the better. All of them are members of either the 990fx, 990x or 970 chipsets. This is important because there are other, incompatible chipsets that use the same naming/series schemes as many of these models, but they will not be compatible as they will be different chipsets.

Right. Which is exactly why most people do that, or they find a used board from a seller that seems, as much as can be ascertained, to be fairly reliable.

There are a few that are new though.

Probably there are a lot of used, refurbished or new but out of the US options on Amazon and Newegg.

Personally, I wouldn't waste the money. I'd put it towards an upgrade.

I am going for a Ryzen 5 2600 build since I game a lot, Monster Hunter World lags a bit for me, so I want something a bit solid. I don't overclock since I'm somewhat of a wuss when it comes to the enthusiast side of PC gaming.
