Are you looking into adding new programs or actually shortcut icons to the
desktop?
If you want to add them to the desktop just right click anywhere on the
desktop and select new and then shortcut and just follow the wizard there to
make a icon shortcut hope this is what you need if not let me know ok thanks.

Yep.

As long as you remember where those icons are on your hard drive.

Windows won't find them. You've got to tell it where they are.

Many thanks to Matthew and Stephane for helping me.

I have a bunch of icons from IconShock, IconBase and others
that I'd like to integrate on to Windows-XP, so for example
I'll be able to right click in "Change Icon" on any of my folders
and have there the new icons I chose to add to the system.
Is this doable?

Thanks again,
Edy

If you only use the icons for shortcuts you can load them anywhere on your
hard drive as long as you remember where you put them. Create a shortcut,
right click.. Properties...
Change Icon. Select Browse and go to your icons and choose one.
