How to adjust contrast on Acer flat screen monitor?

Hello,
I am using an Acer flat screen monitor. The contrast is too bright, however, when I pull the menu up to adjust it, I don't know how. The monitor was given to me so I don't have any manuals, etc. Cursor stays under the menu and arrow keys don't work....how to?? Thanks for your attention! Antoinette
