Did you have problems with the "format"

Basically what we need to know, if you want design advice.

1) What you want PC for like -eg. Gaming, Photo/video editing, design work, surfing, or of course a combination of those.
2) Where are you (country)
3) Budget
4) What budget has to include. Do you need things like monitor, operating system, keyboard/mouse etc.
5) If you've got monitor, what resolution is it. If not, what size do you want.
6) Any special needs, like a window in case, or you want it to be particularly good at a favourite game etc
7) Do you want ability to overclock processor, or to add a 2nd GPU, in future (bear in mind those abilities cost)

System Usage from Most to Least Important Gamming,college homework,surfing, photo work (nothing heavy lite vidio production) and movies

Parts Not Required; keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:---newegg.com, ncix.com ;ebay;

Country:- USA

Overclocking: more than likely,

SLI or Crossfire: at some time i'm sure so thats a Maybe

Monitor Resolution;1440x900, 1600x1200, 1680x1050, 1920x1080, 1920x1200) 1440x900 and higher,- running 3 displays now with intent to run more

Additional Comments:( as a result of a stroke i suffer from ( Agoraphobia ) so i send a lot of time up grading so i would like start with a mobo that would afford me this option. blink is nice, but no needed. but function is real so things like being able to liquid cooled later down the road is more important.
thanks and sorry about the format thing

You can probably see the issue, from the above. You could allow for overclocking CPU, with a suitable CPU and Z77 mobo, and cooling; you could allow for SLi/crossfire, with a suitable motherboard and adequately rated power supply; you could even allow for future custom water cooling, with a suitable case. It would be difficult, however, to allow for much of those, let alone all, if you actually want a reasonable graphics card. Plus, if you are looking for GAMING on multiple monitors, you need, at least, a very powerful graphics card, if not dual cards. Something has to be sacrificed, it's just a question of what.

Ok due to some recent developments with my health I'm afforded much more time for this build ( like all the time I need ) so this will allow me the option to spend more.
thought i just start with a really great mobo and case and psu and go from there.still following plan.
question for addict;
why i5-3450 i get confused when reading spec and tend to thin higher is better
ie; 3.2 vs 3.1 i7 over i5, 3470 over 3450 ( not relizing that you can probality over clock the 3450 more') making it tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
thanks

In practical terms, the only i5 you can overclock is i5-3570K. The "K" stands for "unlocked" (don't ask me why). There are several locked i5s, generally the best VALUE is either i5-3450 or i5-3470 (it does vary with actual prices). There are a couple of very slightly faster i5s, but the gain is so small, it's usually not worth higher cost.
You need to decide if you want ability to overclock. It's not just the cost of processor, in fact if you have local access to Microcenter, the i5-3570K is actually cheaper at moment. You do however, need more expensive motherboard, and a better cooler. Without Microcenter deal, additional cost for OC is around $75, with MC deal, that reduces to around $30. (Don't know how long that deal is, and it's only in-store)

ok now i understand that , i'm not going to oc right off bat but would like to have that option if l need to at later time. So why i5 and not i7 since i'm not in a rush any more I can spend more on each part. Am I still confussed with the notion that higher is better and faster. If cooler is what we need so be it ,I go water cool ( I think I'm seeing the plan change thats ok as long as I have a plan to meet) I can start picking up the parts start with mobo,cpu ,psu,case since this is prob going to be my last build (my first total custom build) for a very long time I kind of want all the bells and whistels and not regret not installing something I could have sorry to be a pain but I really need advice as I said I get confussed with newer and higher numbers are better but I want that wow factor to carry me thru a long preiod of time till i can start tinkering again
Thanks

The only real difference between i5, and i7, is that i7 has hyperthreading, to create 8 threads, instead of the 4 standard cores, they both have. Only specially written software can use hyperthreading, and the only common software that has the facility is for Photo/video editing, and some design programs, especially in 3D. No games do, at the moment. Because most gamers don't have i7, there's very little incentive for game software writers, to use it. As more people use i7, games that use it may become viable, but general opinion is that's a timescale of 4/5 years. Any i7, bought today, to be ready for that, is going to be outdated, before it happens. General view, if you're heavilly into photography, get i7, otherwise no point, get i5.
By the sounds of it, you would benefit from getting i5-3570K, and a Z77 motherboard, to give ability to overclock. In order to overclock, you need a CPU cooler, better than the stock one, supplied with CPU. The most cost effective way is, normally, to use an air cooler. You can use liquid cooling. There are two types. A fairly basic, closed loop liquid cooler, that is self-contained. They tend to be a bit frowned on as, whilst they give decent cooling, it's not necessarily any better than air cooling, but much more expensive, also tend to be fairly noisy. You can change fans, to make them quieter, but makes them even more overpriced.
Then there's full custom water cooling. That CAN be very good, but needs care, and no little skill to design it, to work well. In addition to CPU cooling, you can water cool GPU, and some motherboards. It can be very expensive, and, forgive me, I don't know the level of your skill, not for a beginner. If it's something you think you might like to try, in the future, it may be worth selecting a case, that would be capable; I doubt it's worth selecting GPUs or motherboards, to take water-cooling, as they are either expensive, or don't work as well without it (in the meantime), or both.
