Ducks have adopted our backyard. They come back every spring (mid-march). Families with babies, etc.
Very cute.
We feed them pellets and dried corn.

Local geese have now found this, and are showing up daily to eat.

Let me stay on your property for a few weeks. Boom... no more geese. Of course, there is always a chance there will be no more ducks either, but I will have a very happy winter.🤣 Of course, you would be welcome for Thanksgiving.

No.

The back, where they and the ducks stroll in from, is open.
Understood, I was hoping for a yes. That would offer the chance of entry point control, to keep the larger geese out.

From my farm kid days, anything to rid yourself of the geese would likely do the same with the ducks. Aside from targeted removal.

They will just keep coming back to the food source.

I'm affraid this is true.
Birds can detect a food source from seemingly two continents away. Gulls are most aggressive about it.

Unless geese are annoying or territorial, do you have to deter them? They can be very docile.

The main problem with the geese is goose poop. The ducks aren't nearly as bad, but the large turds from the geese are going to make that part of the yard uninhabitable.

My yard backs up to a business park, with LOTS of geese. The ducks have been coming here for years, but only this year have the geese invaded.
They've been here every day this week.

Our local golf course has some trained Australian shepherds that love to chase geese.
Unfortunately, I can't think of anything that stops geese that won't also stop ducks.

If you can find a green laser mentioned, target the geese with it.

Have you tried punching a goose?

That's terrible advice. And irresponsible. You didn't even mention he'll need body armor, medical coverage and a desire to taste hopital food.
Please be thorough.

Jokes aside, violence is obviously not an option. And the same is true of most tips for getting rid of geese because duckies are welcome.
Tough one.
