I tried to put my number on the do not call register and it wouldn't even recognise my number as a number!!

Point 4 & 5 on what to do are totally worthless. The FTC doesn't do squat about robocalls, spoofs, etc. And the Do Not Call Registry is more like a Yes-Call-amd-harass-me registry. Just check out any of the number of who is this number web sites.
