How to avoid system stop on keyboard error message?

I am building a server using i.a. an A7V600 ASUS mainboard. I don't intend
to
have a keyboard, mouse nor screen on it; besides the server box is to be
mounted in a fairly unaccesible place of my house.
I am annoyed by the power-up self-tests. These detect hat there is no
keyboard (which is correct) and then display the rather hilarious message:
"Keyboard error or no keyboard present. Press F1 to continue, or DEL to
enter setup".
Guess what you need to press F1 :))
I have gone through the AwardBIOS (ver 1006) BIOS settings over and over but
failed to find an option to neutralise this self-test.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

If the other suggestions don't pan out and you have to have a solution
you can call BlackBox Corp (www.blackbox.com) who will sell you a
small fob that plugs into the PS/2 jack and fakes-out the Mobo and OS
into thinking there is a keyboard. It will be a few bucks.

I always assumed I could tear the circuit card out of a cheap kbd and
cobble up a short cable that would accomplish the same thing.

Don't blame me. I voted for Gore.

Looking at a box with an A7V600 in it,

Award Bios' "Main" tab, the setting is

HALT ON [No error]

I don't know if this has changed any over the different bios
versions, but this box I just looked at is running v1008. I
would suggest it a good idea to use more recent bios than
1006. Asus has historically made more changes/improvements
to their bios that what they note on their bios page
notes... but what further changes, I don't know. At some
point i "thought" they patched a southbridge SATA problem
but I could be confusing it with another board... so many
boards, so little time.

As for the mouse and keyboard, you should only need boot to
confirm it finishes ok, but with an OS like Windows you
might want to simply plug in the USB keyboard once to
confirm it detects it right and it works (which I suspect it
does, but it's much more of a PITA to find out that
something that "should" work, doesnt' later, then having to
drag and monitor to the location if your OS (or an app)
doesn't allow alternate means of access.

As for the self-test, there should be a quick or fast boot
mode, yet another setting on a different page. I wouldn't
worry about that though- it could actually be better to just
suffer the few seconds for the tests since presumably this
box wouldn't be turned on and off frequently?

Yes indeed philo & kony, "HALT ON NO ERROR" did the trick. Many thanks.

Is there anything left that might need this done?
Last box I set up like that was a circa '98-99 Compaq PC
board- not known for user friendliness or bios settings yet
it either had the setting or didn't need it... don't
remember which but it has no kbd/mouse.

You can. I've done it.
