Who can give me a hint, how to backup all printer definitions in a MSCS Cluster Server 2003 environment.
The printers are integrated in the cluster. As long as he printers have not been in the cluster, we used printmig.exe, but this is not working in a cluster.
Thanks in advance for every hint!

re-reading the question :??:

what backup tools are you using on the cluster already? As far as i know printmig.exe is used to migrate printers and print settings not for moving the server itself. I would take an image of the server and back that up and amend this image as and when the print configuration changes.

Hi Fowang, thanks for your answer.
But it does not really help, because an image will not solve the problem.
We have almost every week some changes in the printer environment and I have to backup only the printers for the case, that the system will be corrupt and unusable. For that case I have a standby database at another location, which will then be activated. And for this emergency case I have to install the printers on that host from my backup. Therefore I need a way, to backup all printers and afterwards to create them on another system.
The only way I see, is to create them in parallel on both hosts - but that is only a workaround for my problem.
Do you have any other idea or do you know any tools, which work in a 64bit MSCS environment?
Best regards, Marlene

Hello there.

I have the same issue and I need to backup a 2003 clustered print server.
However I think you can back it up using print migrator. On the gui you need to specify the cluster name for the target machine instead of the node name. If you leave it blank it looks at the node name (server where you are running the tool from).
You can also run it from the command line, c:\printmig -b "\\filesrv\backup.cab" \\clustername
I HAVE NOT TESTED IT YET, so good luck and let me know how it goes..........
