how to be on same team on xbox live

hi

husband just won an xbox today and we are trying to play halo 2 online. We
both have xbox live acts. we have 2 disks of halo 2. 2 xbox. I tried to
create a party and invited him to play but it created a game with just 2 of
us and against each other. We want to be able to play in same team with many
players. is this something possible? how do we do it .

Have you tried a matchmaking game, and then invite your husband into the
game?

There might be an issue with running (2) xboxs on the same router. I had
this problem before when I shared my connection with someone. I am sure the
forums will correct me though if I am wrong

1) One of you can join a matchmaking game and the other can "join" that
game, as long as you do it before the game starts.

2) if that doesn't work then one of you should be able to 'join' the other
before they go into a pre-game lobby.

Both scenarios assume you have each other in your friend's list.
