How To

How To Beat Mission 7 The Rucker Extraction

Make sure you stock up on ammo, biocells, and anything else you feel you are going to need before you take off in the helicopter. It's going to be a while until you are back, and there isn't many options for restocking in Golem.

Step 1)Locate your contact.
oE7iIib.jpg

You'll be dropped off pretty close to your contact's housing unit, so head over to meet with him. If you have some neropozyne to spare, stop and talk to the medic here, and she'll offer to trade you some information in exchange. The information is for the code to open a storage unit that she believes will be stocked with ammo and guns that you might need, it's up to you if you take her up on the deal or not. Once you get to your contacts house, you'll discover the local police got here first, and have taken him and his brother away for 'questioning'. Nothing is ever easy for Adam Jenson, so head over to the narrows where they are holding these two. Break in however you see fit, either by knocking heads together and storming through the front door, or on the left hand side of the door you'll find a grate which you can crawl through to get inside by a more stealthy means. You'll find your contact in a cell here, and he's turned coward and will no longer directly help you for fear of putting his family at more risk than they are in already from him being involved with ARC. He does give you some information on how you can proceed though, so he's not completely useless.

Step 2)Choose how you are going to proceed.

You're given a few options about how to move forward now, you can save your contacts brother, who's located in the same building as he is, you can find his key card which one of the police who arrested him took, you can talk to Louis Gallois in the market, you can return a favor to Otar, if you owe him one from a certain side mission, or you can bypass all of these options completely with some good jumping skills, but then you'd lose out on some experience from not completing these optional missions.

I owed a favor to Otar myself, so I went with that route to talk to Louis Gallois and let him know that Otar wants him dead. In return for not killing him he allowed me access to ARC territory, as well as providing me with some interesting information that should come in handy later.

If you don't owe Otar a favor and want to save your contact's brother, you'll have to deal with the four guards holding him, which includes one in an exo-suit. He'll let you know of the passcode to enter ARC territory if you save him from these guys laying a beating on him. Then it's just a matter of talking to the ARC member at the gate and telling him the password for admission.

If you talk to Louis and do not owe Otar a favor, then he'll ask you for a favor in recovering a stolen shipment of his in return for him helping you to get in to the ARC territory, this one can take a bit longer, and will involve hacking into three rooms with a guard patrolling the hallway leading to them.

If you want to proceed with grabbing your contacts key card, then look for a police officer on his phone bragging to whatever buddy of his on the other end that he's got it. Follow him after his call and he'll wander off to a secluded area where you can easily dispatch him however you want to retrieve the card.

Step 3)Enter ARC territory.

No matter what method you do in order to get here, you'll now have to sneak or fight you way through this area to get to the main elevator. There are too many different paths you could take to list, so instead I'm going to focus on the path of least resistance that will allow you to get through this area the fastest. You'll need the remote hacking augment to do this completely though. When you first enter you'll get a cut scene introducing you to the muscle of the group. Once this is finished you'll need to access the elevator that'll bring you up to the main levels of ARC territory. If you can hack the keypad for one of the storage areas in front of the lasers you are given the access code to the bridge from a pocket secretary in here, so sneak past the lasers using your glass shield cloaking and lower the bridge to get to the elevator. Look for the vent in the top to drop down into the elevator to move to the next area.

Step 4)Travel deeper into ARC territory.

Look to the left of the building that Sokel entered and you'll find a long ladder you can remote hack to lower, and you can climb this all the way up to the third floor. This area is electrified, but some boxes on the right hand side will lead you to the breaker to shut that off. There are two guards here as well, so either sneak past them, or take them out. Climb a ladder up to a new area to find a little snipers nest, complete with two snipers. This is where this path would seem to stop, with you stuck in the snipers nest, overlooking where you need to go, but there's a platform you can remote hack from here to continue on your way to the next area. Be sure to stop off in the server room below on your way, as it will contain one of the breach software packs located in Golem city. From here the path gets a bit messy. Do your best and be sure to hack any security terminals you find to turn off lasers and cameras. Make good use of your glass shield augment and you should be able to get through the rest of this area easily enough. At the end there are some lasers you won't be able to deactivate, but you can sneak through a grate just under the camera here to the next area.

Step 5)Access the elevator.

Now that you're through the living quarters, you'll have to find the elevator to take you up to Rucker. This is a bit easier than the last section. First off, swing right and take out the guy sitting down with his back to you, and then advance cautiously down the corridor towards the two guards talking. Be patient, and they will split up to go on patrol after their talk and you can pick them off one by one. The next room has two more guards talking, but you can sneak right past them. Go towards the terminal here, and you can move a crate out of the way to continue along this corridor up the right hand side until you reach a surveillance room. Quietly take out the two guards watching the screens here, grab the breach software, and deactivate the cameras and turrets using the code from the pocket secretary on one of these guys. Use your glass shield to get past the lasers and up the stairs, and from here you can sneak down the corridor to the elevator easily if you were able to deactivate the machine gun turret.

Step 6)Confront Rucker.

Head down the hallway to the door, and you'll come face to face with your target, Talos Rucker. While talking with him, turn the tables, then patronize, justify, and turn the tables again to get him to agree to come with you and provide you with a keycard to his secure room. You won't be leaving with him though, after the cutscene go search that room. There is a level 5 safe in here, if you need to use a multitool as there is both a triangle code and a praxis kit inside. Make sure you grab the pocket secretary for the evidence before you leave.

Step 7)Get to the extraction point.

If you attract any guards attention during this phase of the mission, not only will they bring every other guard down on you, but they also have some security drones floating around. Use your best stealth skills to slip past them and keep jumping down from area to area until you reach Chikane's ship and get out of here.

This long mission is now over, and you're coming back to base almost empty handed with the extraction as a failure. Be reader for Miller to be an unhappy camper.
