Hi All,

I have a specific problem, i have a laptop whose HDD have issue, can't take much load, Now i am travelling for long carrying that laptop, but while travelling i need to do photo editing (Photoshop + LightRoom),
So my question is can i install Windows/photoshop on external SSD (which is attached via usb 3.0) and boot this laptop via this SSD and work ?
If yes .. then which is SSD would be good ( 256GB storage is sufficient for me )

Solution

Why can't you change the drive in the laptop?
Is this possibly a company laptop?

Secondly, does it need to be actual "Adobe Photoshop"?
You can boot from a Linux LiveCD, and use GIMP or any of a number of other graphics applications.

No changes to the laptop at all.
You can install windows on a external drive. But I really suggest you getting an internal SSD. You would have lot of limitations installing on a external drive, like you can only use on that laptop, perhaps even using always the same usb.
Just get a standard SSD and install it, it will be a better choice and also a long term solution.

Regards

Thanks for ur answer, but the problem is i can't open my laptop (Can't make any changes on Laptop H/W or S/W wise), whatever i need to i have to from out side.
Only question is .. will i be able to perform my photoshop works if i use SSD externally.
