I have a G7 Power extreme 680W and it only has two separate Molex rails. The GFX takes a 6 & 8 pin however I have a molex to 6 pin on one of the lines and got this cable (dual molex to 8 pin) http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=310878965353&alt=web however the recomdations say use two different lines. So can I use that cable on my GFX or will the card be under powered?

Another option is the PSU has a 4 pin which I use a 4 pin to 8 pin adaptor for to power the motherboard (Gigabyte H87-HD3) could I use the 4 pin to 8 pin to power the GFX and the dual miles to 8 pin to power the motherboard?

Or am I fucked and need to shell out for a new PSU?

I really really wouldn't trust that PSU with anything. I can't find any numbers on it at all. Oh and it doesn't have any 6pin or 8pin connectors on a supposed 700w psu is, well, very obviously junk.

But to answer your other question about a 6pin and an 8pin using a "line". Molex cables are rated for a max of 11A @ 12v which is 132w.

An 8pin connector on its own is capable of outputting a max of 150w and a 6pin is capable of 75w, so it is quite important.

That PSU has worked fine up to this point its just quite old maybe 4 years from my first "gaming pc". Here is a Picture of the specifications (http://imgur.com/QfCAVtB)

I don't quite understand about the lines (which i mean coming straight from the PSU) there are two Molex/Sata lines coming separately and a 4 pin conntor to clarify. Could I use the cable I purchased to power the GFX? Or could I use the 4 pin to 8 pin method I am currently powering the motherboard with and use the cable to power the motherboard?

Oh, ouch sorry about the confusion, I was trying to word it one way then went back and tried to word it another way. No idea how I butchered it that badly but whatever.

Basically what I was trying to say was, you won't have a problem if they are two separate molex connectors coming out from the power supply. Heres a badly drawn picture in paint. Also just assume that connected to the molex is the 8pin adapter, I forgot to draw it. That goes for the single molex to 6 pin and the 8 pin molex you don't want to have either of those on the same molex chain/line.

As to your question about the 4 pin to 8pin, if you are referring to using a the 8pin connector that goes into your mobo, no don't do that. That would fry things instantly. Also the molex to 8 pin for the mobo and not the gpu would also fry things. (assuming you could actually get the 8pin into the socket, you'd have to put it in upside down and force it a bit, but its been done before by people.)
