How to change my SSD to AHCI mode

So basically, I've had my SSD for a few months now and have been really impressed with the performance, however recently I have found that it seems to be taking slightly longer to boot up my computer. I did some research and found that in order to get the best out of your SSD it should be switched to AHCI mode. I am fairly certain I haven't done this and was wondering how I go about doing this.

I have the Kingston Hyper X 3K 240GB which should which I have installed Windows onto. If someone could give me step by step instructions on how to switch the mode correctly because I have read that doing it wrong results in a BSOD.

I also have an internal 1TB HDD where I store pretty much everything apart from a couple of games and of course the OS. Do I need to change something to this HDD also? Even if I do not have to, is it possible to change the HDD to AHCI to make it go faster?

Thanks for any help in advance.
