How to change to an ssd

Alright I have a 1.5 tb hdd in my computer now. its rather full (like maybe 400 gb free). I just want to know if there was an easy way to make a new ssd my boot drive and leave most of the existing programs (except a few frequently used) on my hdd. thanks in advance

You would have to move all what ever you can off the 1.5 TB so that the data left can fit on the SSD and then clone it.
