how to change video file resolution from 1920x1600 to 1920x1080

my samsung TV ES6100 does not support files bigger than 1920x1080. i have several movies in 1920x1600 resolution. how can i change them to 1920x1080?

No it is impossible.your tv support upto max 1920*1080 only.

You will have to re-encode the videos. It depends on the format they are in, which tool you need.

format is MKV. I am using mkvmerge GUI v4.0.0. importing an mkv video with 1920x1600, setting output resolution on 1920x1080, start muxing. the program shows that it is finished successfully, but the new video file has the same parameteres 1920x1600. may be you can advise on other software?
