How to Change Windows 8 Sound Settings

The default sound settings that the Windows 8/Windows 8.1 operating system has are pretty good if you just want to get notified about the different events/actions/activities that take place either automatically, or when you perform some task. However, if you are a music lover, or if you are bored of listening to the default sound scheme that the operating system has, you might want to modify the default sound settings in order to make your computer more interesting and appealing.

Since modifying the sound settings is a user specific task which does not require any elevated privileges (administrative rights), the modifications done in one user profile do not reflect on the other accounts. This being said, in order to modify the sound settings on multiple accounts that share the same Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer, the modifications must be made on each account individually.

Here is how you can change the default sound settings in your Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer:

■Log on to the Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer with any user account on which you want to modify the default sound settings.
■From the Start screen, click the Desktop tile.
■Once on the desktop window, right-click anywhere.
■From the displayed context menu, click Personalize.

■Repeat the same process for other events in the Program Events list to fully customize the entire sound scheme of your Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer.

10. Once you are satisfied with the customization, you can click the Save As button under the Sound Scheme section on the same interface, and in the available field in the opened box, type a name for the new sound scheme in order to save the customized sound scheme for future uses.
