Is there a way to check if my Dell inspiron 580 bios is compatible with Xeon x3470? My chipset is the
Intel-H57-Express-Chipset
and probably it is compatible with the chipset since that cpu works with the older h55 and P55 chipsets. So my only concern is the bios that comes from Dell.

Some details of my motherboard:

Motherboard
Manufacturer Dell Inc.
Model 0C2KJT (CPU 1)
Version A00
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model Havendale/Clarkdale Host Bridge
Chipset Revision 18
Southbridge Vendor Intel
Southbridge Model H57
Southbridge Revision 06

BIOS
Brand Dell Inc.
Version A07
Date 13-Nov-10

dell is well known for not upgrading cpu compatability

i3's and i5's only

best cpu = i5 760

you mean the motherboard supports i3 and i5 because the chipset supports i7 as well. Check the h57 chipset page

Check this benchmark on userbenchmark. This confirmation of this user has exactly the same motherboard and pc as mine and he can run an i7 870: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/2199791.
Xeon X3470 also works: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/3620875
Here is my benchmark: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/4384287

So i7 870 and xeon are a better choice now. Should i change the fan with the i7 or xeon? Right now i have the fun of the i5 650. By upgrading to the i7 will it stop gpu bottlenecking?
