how to check if a hard drive is working

Hello, is the Seagate momentus thin hard drive compatible with a pc? or is it only for the laptop? I tried checking to see if I was able to use it but it said that the computers hardware isn't compatible and I couldn't boot from it. If it isn't is there any way to check and see if the hd is working or not? Thank you

HDtune is good. You can scan it for errors or run a bench test.

Its a sata so sure it will work but its a slower 5400 rpm. Most desktops use the faster 7200rpm drives.

it is a sata drive, it should work as long as you plug it in properly

start it off as a secondary, and use a HDD program to scan it and maybe fix any issues with it
