Hi, I saw some posts about this but haven't been able to find a definite solution. CPU_Z only tells that my RAm is from Corsair. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility does not tell also.

Thaiphoon Burner provides powerful features for reading, modifying, updating and reprogramming SPD firmware of SPD EEPROM devices. The program fully supports all popular JEDEC standards for Serial Presence Detects and third-party enhancements, such as NVIDIA EPP and Intel XMP. Comparing to other software Thaiphoon Burner creates the most completed reports for any of the following SDRAM types of DIMM modules: PC SDRAM, DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM, DDR3 SDRAM, DDR2 FB-DIMM, DDR4 SDRAM, LPDDR3 and LPDDR4. This is achieved due to universal built-in SPD decoding engine.

See "Die Density/Count" for die type. In the picture example the RAM stick's Manufacturer is Samsung and the RAM chips are B-Die ("8 Gb B-die...").
Go to Read and then select one of the drop downs. They're by hardware address so it wont be as simple as "slot 1" or "slot A2".
You needed to run as Admin because the program needed to have certain permissions to read stuff that's usually blocked to standard users. That's no worries since you are the Administrator. It's your pc..
Thaiphoon Burner is a standalone program. Just delete the folder you extract it to. That notification you got is due to a BIOS setting. Don't worry about it since you're not editing the SPD profiles of the RAM kit. You just wanted to see what type of RAM chips you have (Read/view) and this is more of a write/change thing.Thanks. I got the info I want. Mine is also b-die!
What is the best way to uninstall it? Cannot find it under Apps->Uninstall. I was a bit afraid since Windows gave warning message and asked me to run it as an Administrator. It also mentioned something like "Writes to SMBus addresses 50h-57h are disabled by BIOS setting!..."
A program should only ask for permissions if it is installing itself, modifying something with your system, or accessing privileged/restricted information. Thaiphoon Burner was accessing privileged information.Thanks. I was a long-time Mac user who used Windows occassionally. However, I moved to the Windows world recently since Apple hardware does not fit my needs. In the past, I was told to be careful when giving Admin permission to 3rd party programs. How do I know which programs are OK to give access to and which programs should stay away from?
