You should upgrade your motherboard to get the most out of the card. The motherboard has PCI-E 2.0 and the graphics card uses PCI-E 3.0.
There is no point in getting a 3.0 motherboard for a GTX 960 or heck even a GTX Titan X an x16 slot at 2.0 will be just fine and noticeable difference between the 2 gens.
Anyway the GTX 960 will work with the motherboard with no issues, But you have to make sure you have a good power supply to deal with the load, Also you want to make sure the card will fit into the case as mentioned by maxalge.
