How to choose a graphics card for my motherboard

Hello i have a Gigabyte H81M-S2H (rev. 1.0) motherboard and i want to buy the Gigabyte GeForce GTX960 4GB Gaming graphics card... Will I be able to connect those two or do I need a better motherboard. Plz explain to me why

for that card there would be virtually no difference in performance between a 2.0 and 3.0 slot

make sure your case is big enough to fit the 960 and you have a power supply with the proper number of pcie cables and wattage
 


There is no point in getting a 3.0 motherboard for a GTX 960 or heck even a GTX Titan X an x16 slot at 2.0 will be just fine and noticeable difference between the 2 gens.

Anyway the GTX 960 will work with the motherboard with no issues, But you have to make sure you have a good power supply to deal with the load, Also you want to make sure the card will fit into the case as mentioned by maxalge.
