Hi guys,

Someone recommended the Aneng AN8008 Multimeter, so I decided to buy it.
While reading about it, I discovered that the AN8009 version can read Temperature, now I am deciding whether to buy AN8008 or AN8009, so I wanted to ask you guys for your opinion.

I would like to use it for light PC repair and Car repair.

I am a beginner in using Multimeters, the only Voltmeter I own is this:
https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Instruments/Digital-Multimeters/2212-20
I have used it to measure Voltage on: Batteries, Power Adapters, also the Car Battery in my car; it can measure only Volts I think, so I definitely need a better tool.

The important differences between AN8008 and AN8009 for me right now are:
AN8008 - has Square Wave Output, doesn't have Temperature
AN8009 - has Temperature, doesn't have Square Wave Output

The Square Wave Output measurement on the AN8008, I don't really know what I can use it for right now, it could be an important feature that I might need sometime.
For practical use in real life situation, do you guys know what I can measure with Square Wave Output?

Thanks for your time.

If you have a Milwaukee, why buy a relatively unknown brand when you can buy a Fluke for similar price to the 8009 -- https://www.amazon.com/Fluke-101-Multimeter-Resistance-Capacitance/dp/B00HE6MIJY/
I would always recommend a Fluke over a no-name meter. You know that with a Fluke you can get it calibrated if desired.

Did anyone mention Fluke yet? For bench-top I would check Tektronix… what budget? Work or fun?

There are thousands of noname products and only a few major brands offer reliable and predictable quality, anyone who deals with electronics and can afford good tools will not be trying noname just because it will cost a lot more time and effort to even find that one noname that actually worth the money and is up to the task.
Don’t take my word for it.

kanewolf, thanks for the Fluke model recommendation, seems like a good choice.

vov4ik_il, 25-30$ max, something small and light, for random repairs, will not be used very often.

Thanks guys, I will check the models you recommended.
