I am planning to buy a 144hz monitor. Through HDMI it can only go up to 120hz, so I need to use a Displayport cable to reach 144hz. I want to connect the monitor to my Legion Y720, it has one HDMI 2.0 port and one Mini-Displayport 1.2 port.

Does the form of the Displayport cable affect image quality? because my laptop uses Mini-Displayport while the monitor im planning on buying uses regular Displayport.

And what is the max fps of Displayport 1.2 in 1080p?

also, do cables have versions like hdmi and displayport? or do they just use what ever version the port uses.

You're limited to the port itself, so if its HDMI you can only output the signal that port is capable of handling.

Thanks, that clears up a lot of confusion because on the website im shopping at, (kind of like amazon but for the Philippines). There was a Displayport cable from Ugreen that says it will go 4k @ 60hz, so i was worried that it wouldnt go further than 60hz.
