How to clean the water off a motherboard?

A couple of days ago when I had the leak. I disconnect one of the hoses to my resivoir that had a thread leak. And that hose spitted water on the motherboard. Now I read a site where you should use 90% alcohol to rinse the motherboard of any dried water. I have only 70% dose it really make any difference?

+1 to compressed air, and prop it up by a house fan and let the sucker blow on it for a few hours.

You disconnected the hose with the loop full ?
How much fluid did you get on the board ?
What type of fluid ?
Did you mop it all up and give the board 24 hrs. or so to dry before attempting to power it up ?

A week later and no boot , I would suspect that the board is cooked.

I did not dissconnect the hose with a full loop becuase I had to take off the resivior.

I got a splash on the board. I waited a full 48Hours to try the system but found out my PSU had failed the PG test. so I had to wait about another full 5 days before I got another PSU. I did not rinse it with alcohol before I tried it again becuase I thought 7 days should be enough for it to dry and 48 hours for it to dry as well.

I would stop using the Feser or any form of coolant immediately.

There is no need to rinse with alcohol. It doesn't dissolve minerals like water can.

Rinse your entire motherboard with distilled water and blow it off with compressed air. An easy job if you have an air compressor. Then let it dry overnight and it should be good to go.

Back on topic about the feser liquid. Any glycol solution is horrible. You might be temped by the misleading advertisement about being non conductive. It is non-conductive but your water blocks are usually made of metal and a tiny amount can get into the fluid and quickly make it conductive.

Back to why glycol solutions are bad. They dry very very slow. Once upon a time I was using feser one as well. Back when I was using it, I spilled some and I had to rinse and clean the motherboard, it was a pain. Worst of all even after a month I found drops of semi-liquid fluid on my case. A month to dry is unacceptable not to mention it stains plastics.

Use distilled water and UV reactive tubing. Coolant is a marketing scam much like Nvidia PhysX. Just to sell you something you think you need.

I actually had a leak a couple days ago. I didn't need to rinse anything since it was only distilled water. I just dried it with an air compressor with all the components in place and waiting an hour.

ok about the feser. the only reson I got it was because it was UV blue and the tubbing I wanted was not in stock. So I got the feser. back on topic I did stain my board and used 91% alcohol becuase there was no 90% so I got all the stains off. But the board still will not power on. nothing on the board looks burnt. But when I was on Air Cooling I started to smell a plastic smell. And then my PSU went. But the green LED comes on signaling that there is power to the board.

Btw my Water block is the Danger Den MC-TDX for LGA 775. Now if I can't get my board to boot what should I do next? I called Asus and tried their ideas. Would asus Know if there has been fluid on the board even though I do not think that could be the problem because there was no sound from the board at all. I know with water you would think you would hear some sort of buzz sound because I can remember my mom's Phone which got wet and all you herd was buzzing sounds and was viberating. I did clean off all the stains.

You shouldn't hear any buzzing sound from water. Your phone probably has a short circuited vibrator. Most of the time when there is a short your board should boot for a second.

If it doesn't, perhaps you didn't plug in your power switch right XD

Otherwise I would try rinsing with distilled water since alcohol doesn't dissolve many minerals like water can. Its very hard to ensure all the Feser Coolant is off. If you don't have enough distilled water just rinse generously with tap water first then finish with distilled water. If there was coolant still on the board you can easily spot the blue dye. Make sure your board is dry before using. It shouldn't take long if you blow with compressed air or put it in front of a fan.
