How to Clone RAID-0 laptop drives - Dell Inspiron 15Z 5523

I did do a seach, but didn't find the answer..

as the subject indicates, I have a Inspiron 15Z 5523

It has a RAID-0 setup - 500gb HDD and a 32gb SSD.

I would like to clone both, to make a hot swappable emergency backup, for when I am travelling, and don't have time to do a full proper reinstall/recovery.

Is this possible? Specifically, what (hardware/software) would I need, and how would I do it. I contacted EaseUS, and they didn't have a clue.

I like the laptop, but not having a hot swappable backup is not good.

in a nutshell, I need to know how to do a bit by bit clone of my SSD and HDD to identical SSD and HDD.

if it is possible, what hardware (cables,enclosures, etc) would I need.

I have done HDD cloning before and it worked well. I can't seem to find how to do a RAID 0

You clone a RAID the same way you clone a single drive considering the OS sees the raid as a single drive.

You image the raid to a single drive large enough to hold all the data. If the old raid completely fails, you install two or more new drives and raid them via the raid bios. You now boot your rescue disk and restore the raid image.

I have no idea how do do any of that. My point is I would like something that I can have in my laptop case that I can instantly pop into my laptop in case of emergency.

I do a lot of travelling and doing presentations. being able to pop out the bad drive(s) and pop in a new one, and be back up in minutes is important. I ran into this with my old laptop, was able to pop out my old drive, put in a cloned drive. maybe 5 minutes of downtime, and i was back up and running.

This is all in addition to proper backup practices.

That makes things difficult. RAID is multiple drives acting as one. This makes backing up easy, restoring, not so easy. You would need to recreate the raid before restoring a backup image.

Technically, I guess you could pull the drives and put them into another computer as secondary drives, then clone them individually. You would have to label which sata port they came from. This is also a lot more technically challenging than just imiging the drive as I stated in my first post.

These are the only ways I know of to do this. Perhaps someone else has an easier way of doing it.

RIGHT thats why I was asking !! So far Acronis, EaseUS, Apricon had no product or idea how to do it either!

I think i should have bought a different laptop!

You dont have raid0.
You most likely have a 500gb single drive with a 32gb SSD cache drive. For cache to work the system must be in raid.

While you can backup the drive easy enough, I have not found a clone utility that works with motherbd raid.

can you please explain me how to make ssd for cache..

as i have formated the hard drives i am not able to restore to factory setting.

can you please give instruction on how to install the os in drives as it is given by dell.?
