How to connect a desktop PC that's far away from a wifi router.

I have built a PC, but my funds got short for a PCI-E wifi card. The wifi router at home is in another room, so it's a bit far for an ethernet cable to reach.

Can I configure another router to act as an extender and plug an ethernet cable so my pc can have internet connectivity? and how do i go about this?

Use powerline network adapters rather than WIFI -- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/network-switch-guide,4047.html The latest AV2 standard devices can keep 100Mbit throughput in most conditions.
