Hi all!

So I have tons of old home videos that I’m trying to show my boyfriend who’s visiting. I have a Sony Handycam, Model CCS-TR96 that was probably purchased circa 1990 (ancient, I know). I used to watch the videos by hooking up the camera to the TV easily, but that was at least 5-6 year ago and before my current Led TV. The camera itself works fine, and I can view the videos on the camcorder itself on playback mode.
Link to Camcorder Manual here: http://

My TV is Samsung Led, Model Number:UN50EH5000FXZA - also known as a Series 45 (4000, 4050, 5000, 5050, 5070). Link to the manual is here: http://

I have a couple problems but I’ll start with this.
The camcorder has the old A/V connecting cable, which ONLY has the black and yellow plugs. (Not even the full RCA plugs with yellow for video, and red and white for audio).

See a photo of the user manual to see what I mean: http:// (In case the photo link doesn't work, the image I'm referencing can be seen on page 16 of the Camcorder's manual, http://)

From reading other threads, I’ve seen that suggestions that point to a 3.5mm mini-to-RCA cable, like this one: http://

However, the Black cable IS an RCA cable, it’s not a 3.5mm, so I’m back to square 1.

Secondly, the back panel of my TV looks like this. Image: http:// (In case the link doesn't work, the image I'm referencing can be seen on page 1 of the TV's manual, under "Connections" http://)

There is a place for the yellow A/V cable, but the black one does not have a space. I assume I would need something that would split the black cable into a red and white cable, for left and right audio????

Third - I don’t know if this is important, but I have a Verizon Fios Set-Top Cable Box (Model: Motorola 7100-P2 HD) that currently plugs into the back of the TV, taking up must of the component plugs. Is it ok to unplug that - will it affect my ability to play the videos, or no because I wouldn’t be using the TV connection anyway?

Lastly - if it is of any assistance, I do have a DVD player accessible, if hooking that up would be of any benefit (?)

ANY help is much appreciated! I have no idea what to do.

Solution
Video out should go to the Video port that is highlighted in the picture, audio also to the highlighted picture. Nice job with the description BTW, usually we need to spend two days just figuring out what the person has they are trying to connect. Since the A/V connections are shared between Component and Composite, you may need to go to the TV settings and set the A/V inputs to Composite. Composite has one video cable, Component divides the video signal for higher resolution and clarity.

You should be fine with disconnecting one or both of the audio plugs to connect the audio from the camcorder. Just remember to plug back in anything you have unplugged when you have finished watching the videos. As far as a splitter for the audio goes search for a 1 female to 2 male composite cable. They can be found from a variety of sources such as Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, etc.
