How To Connect Case Fans To Power Supply HELP!!

Hi guys, i am really a n00b at building computers but i would like to know how to hook up case fans to my psu and not my motherboard.

UPDATE - I discovered that i can use a fan splitter like this that can connect two fans to one.

I also found that i could connect the 3 pin end of the fan splitter to this and it will plug directly into the psu. Is that true? Click Here For Link.

Yep, you can use those 3-pin to Molex adapters to connect straight to the PSU.

Another option would be a fan controller of your choosing, provides an aggregate point for your fans and only one molex connection to plug into your PSU. Also provides the ability to adjust fan speed, which isn't possible otherwise when you go straight into the PSU.

Would the infomation under my update be any simpler? I don't really get how to use the adaptor that was in the post before the update.

No offence, but i didn't learn anything from that article (i'm new to this.) Anyways, will the fan splitter in my update connect directly to the 4 pin molex adaptor on the psu?

Thanks. Also, could you give me a link that is a 8 pin to 4 pin adaptor like this except i only want one end with 4 pins and the other with 8 pins.

My psu has the 8 pin atx connector on it but my mobo atx port is only 4 pins if that makes it simpler.

I need the reverse of that adaptor. The 8 pins from the psu should plug in to the 8 pin end while the 4 pin would plug into the atx connector on the mobo.

Simpler terms - the 8 pin in the link should look like the 4 pin and the 4 pin in the link should look like the 8 pin if i am correct.

nope, i need an 8 pin to 4 pin adaptor not 4 pin to 8 pin adaptor.

also, are all front panel connectors the same on ALL motherboards including the powerbutton, front audio, and usb?

Ibereck, You may not need a 8 pin to 4 pin adapter. Look at the 8 pin connecter on the psu. The Corsair CX600's 8 pin connecter separates into 2 4 pin connecters. You can use either one to plug into the mobo. Case fans can be power three ways. One the 3 pin connecter can be plugged into a 3 pin connection on the mobo. The advantage is the mobo can control the speed as needed. The second is to plugged into a fan control unit. Your case has one build in. This allows you to manually control the speed. The last is to use adapters to plug into the psu directly. With this setup the fans will run at max speed when the computer is on. The trade off is the faster and longer the fans run the more cooling the case has but the louder the computer sounds.
