When installing the fans each one had a separate cable but they came with an adapter so they could be added to the same port on the motherboard and I used it. My motherboard has multiple cpu fan ports and I was wondering if I should keep using the adapter or not as my I7 8700k now reaches 65 Celsius while gaming. I haven't overclocked anything.

Edit: Motherboard is Asus RoG Strix Z370-H

I would only use a CPU fan header for a CPU fan. I think you have 2x CPU fan headers. It shouldn't make much difference whether you use the adapter or the other CPU_OPT fan header for your second fan. They both read temps from the CPU to adjust fan speed. I would probably not use the adapter if it were me.

If you want better temps, try adjusting the fan curve in bios/cmos settings for a steeper curve.
