How to connect internal harddisk to another computer via USb

Hello,

I have a 10 gb hard disk which i got from my old computer. Now, can i use it as a portable hard disk? how could i connect to my computer through USB.
I dont prefer making it a slave secondary hard idsk. I need to carry it

10 GB drive? if that is correct then it's a very old drive and not worth the trouble to carry around when you can get usb flash drives 4, 8, 16 gb and larger that don't need power packs and cases and don't weigh a ton.
A 16 gb usb flash drive at Newegg is $25.
