How to connect lan to play games without internet

Hello,i have hp windows 7 lap top and i want to connect to our system (windows xp)to play games using lane wire and i dont know how to connect

You need a router or a crossover cable.

the game has to have a LAN mode to loacally connect. Most new games don't have that anymore.

You need a router or a cheap workgroup switch.

A crossover cable will work as well but switches are more practical imo.

And the game must have a LAN mode and you must verify any ports you will use.
