How to connect Laptop eDP panel to desktop Displayport?

I have a spare 15.6 inch 1920x1080 laptop panel which used 30 pin (2 lane) embedded displayport.
How can I use it on a Desktop PC which has a Displayport output?
Do I need an lcd controller? Or a customised cable will work?

Based on the link above, it isn't that easy. There are some tailor-made solutions though. (refer to the links on that page)

The various revisions of eDP are based on existing DisplayPort standards. However, version numbers between the two standards are not interchangeable. For instance, eDP version 1.4 is based on DisplayPort 1.2, while eDP version 1.4a is based on DisplayPort

my assumption:
I've seen some cables for edp to DisplayPort connection. the only question is a power supply. The power pins shall provide the required power or you shall look for a cable with a separate wire brach for power supply
