Question How to connect Panasonic HC-V770K camcorder to Desktop PC ?

Hi Gang, I'm using Windows 10 Pro

I need to find the correct cable (and or) PCIe Card from a Panasonic HC-V770 camcorder to my Dell Precision 3620 Workstation with i7-7700K 4.20 GHz CPU.

Picturel of Digital outputs on the HC-V770K (Note both USB and Micro HDMI Ports).

Picture of IEEE1394 PCIe Card I currently have installed in one of the slots on the 3620 Workstation.

I also have built-in USB-2 (and) USB-3 Ports on the Desktop Machine.

I wasn't sure whether I need to connect via USB (or) PCIe Card? And which cable to buy?

I can deal with the necessity of a proper PCIe card, (thank you) :) The immediate problem; locating 'proper' cables for this Panasonic HC-V770 camcorder. It appears what's needed to capture is either a Micro USB cable (or) Micro HDMI cable? It also appears capture via USB 2.0 Micro Cable would be slower? Any information is geatly appreciated.

What speeds are required?

The transfer/capture process will only be as fast as the slowest component in the connection path.

There is plenty of documentation regarding USB speeds.

Most likely you have already looked at some such links.

There are two other considerations:

1) how were the adverstised product speeds determined? Just because the cable adhered to some standard is no guarantee that the cable will perform at that speed.

2) how well the cable is really made. Poor design, materials, assembly etc. can undo any product. Even once good products.

My suggestion is to try to purchase a few cables that meet (or appear to meet) your requirements.

Go "hands-on" and test.

One cable might be a bit faster but flimsier than a slightly slower cable. Trade-offs: speed, reliability, ruggedness, power, etc..

Try the cables, test, determine speeds (if possible) and select the cable that works for you.

Return the cables that fail your tests or otherwise prove unsuitable for your requirements.

Just be sure to confirm the return policies of the seller/vendor before purchasing. Return policies, etc. can reveal much about sellers and their products. Read the fine print.
