How to connect passive loudspeakers?

Hello,

I've found a pair of SONY SS-A607 passive loudspeakers, they are 6 ohm and 120W (as it says on the label in the rear of them), and I would like to know what hardware would i need to connect them to anything using RCA so that they would work reliably. It's my first time getting separate speakers without subwoofer or amplifier and I wouldn't want to screw things up. I've tested wiring the speakers to RCA directly and I can hear really quiet (but audible) sound coming out of them so I'm certain that they work.

If possible I would like to have the chapest solution as I don't plan on having fancy stuff like 5.1 or whatever - just having these two in 2.0 or 2.1 hooked up and working properly is all I need.

I have a feeling you won't like my answer and will fight me, but the reality is, passive speakers HAVE to be hooked up to an amplifier, RCA is un-amplified signal. Can't get amplifier, you are dead in the water. If you ever are able to get this to work wo an amplifier, immediately PATENT it.

Well I was expecting I would need an amp, but I'm not sure which would be fit for the task.

Audio amplifiers have changed very little since they were invented. 6 ohms and 120w you said...

To drive 6 ohms you need a 2-4-6 ohms capable amp, an 8 ohm amp can't do it.

120W is speaker max rating, depending upon how loud you want to play it, amp rating 40-100w should do it.

Cheapest solution is to pick up a used receiver or integrated amplifier. Could be stereo or surround. Don't sweat the power rating as those speakers probably will work with OK with as little at 20 watts.
