Hello,

My old Dell T3400 is starting to grind to a halt. Unfortunately it is the PC I use for home recording and was wondering if I might be able to use the sound card externally on my HP laptop? It doesn't have to be a fancy casing, it's more the adapter that I am looking to find. When I try to google for an adapter I end up getting lost and out of my depth.

Is it possible to connect an M-Audio 1010LT soundcard (PCI) to an HP Elitebook 8570w?

Here's what the soundcard looks like - https://www.gearslutz.com/board/reviews/715065-m-audio-delta-1010lt.html

And here's the spec for the Elitebook - http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03905828.pdf. It has eSata, ExpressCard, USB2 and USB3 ports.

Any help much appreciated!!

I'm afraid you need desktop computer with PCI interface (they're becoming rarity as well) in order to use your sound card. As mentioned above, there're products (with various level of success) enabling use of PCIexpress cards over USB, but I havent's seen anuthing for legacy PCI or ISA.
