Can and wifi laptop be connected to a cabled printer?

Most printers allow direct connection via USB. You just need the correct driver software from the manufacuter’s site.

If the “cable” you refer to is Ethernet, and the printer is properly configured as a network printer, you should be able to use it as a remote printer via WiFi if your laptop is on the same network. Again, you may need the correct drivers.
