How to connect the corsair h55 HELPPPPPP

Hey guys I installed my h55 onto the asus z87-a mobo and I don't know where to connect it to. Both the cables are 3 pin and I have a CPU_FAN header and a CPU_OPT header. And for the fan on the rad: I have the fan controller on my case(600t) but I don't want my rad fan connected to the fan controller cause I want it always to be on 100% power or when the system automatically chooses the best power(like the CPU fan). I'm not gonna blast my case fans to the max though that's why.

Check your instructions, they should tell you where to connect the plugs, OR, go to Corsair's website and check out the videos. You might have to search but they should have one. I mounted my H50 following such video and it was really well explained. I think I have seen a vid. for the H60.
You can also email them from their website and their techs will get back to you within a day or two; they have helped me several times.

Ya i checked the videos. Both the cables are 3pin and all the headers on the mobo are 4pin. How to connect then. That's the question

I think I was told just plug them into the 4 pin mobo connectors and it would all work correctly: I believe I plugged the pump connector into the CPU-fan header, and the fan into a case-fan or chasis-fan header. The plug should only fit one way and the power pins will be oriented correctly
I am about to call it a night as I work tomorrow, but if this doesn't solve the problem, and no one else replies, I will open up my PC tomorrow when I get home and actually see what my mobo headers look like and will UPdate this reply.

I have a CPU_FAN header

The 3pin from the fan on this one,it will fit if you put it on the right way.

And for the fan on the rad .

on which one of the other 4/3pin headers you have,for instance the CPU_OPT header,or the one next to the ram slots or back side near to the i/o panel,your choice.

But which cable(the pump(on the CPU) or the rad) is supposed to be automatically increased or decreased by the mobo for the CPU demand(like in any laptop when there is a lot of load it increases the fan power) . I think that is the CPU_FAN header and which cable am I supposed to plug in it. And to which does the second cable go.

Is it the pump or the rad fan that is supposed to choose the right power for the CPU demand?

Since they are both 3pins i think in the end it doesn't really make a difference,they both are not pwm controlled and probably both run at max speed.

I am home after a very long day. Opened the case and looked at the system. Crap, I had the connections reversed in my mind last night.
Pump is on the Cha_Fan, and my fan(s) for the radiator are on the Cpu_fan and Cpu_opt. headers. The information and link from Vic 40 is correct and
the pictures etc. should help.

Oh and nostall, is the cpu_fan socket on ur mobo 3 or 4 pin? Cause if it's 4 and ur fan has a 3 pin cable ur mobo won't adjust the fan speed(s) by system demand.if so, how did it work for u?

I just looked again, and my cpu_fan socket and cha_fan are 4 pin and my cables are 4 pin/4 wire. I thought that they were 3 pin cables.Sorry, I was supposed to let you know yesterday.

Bonderez, I think the fan is going to run quietly no matter if it is connected to the mobo or directly to the powersupply (via an adapter). The specs indicate it maxxes out at 1700 which isn't terribly fast and it is supposed to be relatively silent, just as Vic stated.
The connections (fans to CPU header and pump to CHA fan header) are to ensure that the pump always runs at full speed, while the fans can be throttled/controlled based upon CPU temperature; just like a regular air cooler. If the instructions didn't mention it, you will need to go into your BIOS and turn OFF chasis fan monitoring (if possible) to assure that the pump gets full power/full speed all the time. NOw, I could be mistaken here; so it still might be worth a call/email to Corsair for clarification.

Yes, I understand. I am under the impression that the radiator fan is designed to run quietly at its stated 1700rpm. Sorry, I know that you know about the PWM connection; I was just suggesting that the cooler may actually be quiet at full rpm and that the 4th pin (pwm) wouldn't be necessary.
Please bear with me, I am not trying to be a smart a** here, but a couple possible solutions:
Can it be returned to where ever you bought it? If so, and if you are not happy with it, return it and exchange it for an H50 (mine has PWM fans with 4 wire leads) or an H60. The H60 might cost a couple dollars more but the H50 should be about the same or less. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010)
#2. Call Corsair Customer Service. Explain that you are not satisfied with the fan system. Offer to purchase one of the fans that would normally be included with the H60, or have them suggest a replacement fan. NO guarantee, but when I wanted to put a second fan on my H50, and explained my reluctance to buy a fan which might not match the stock one, they sent me one. Might not happen to you, but won't know 'til you try. Even so 120mm PWM fans are realtively inexpensive.

We'll I actually want the most possible cooling for my CPU so even if the radiator fan is running at full speed that's fine and if it's a bit too loud that's ok.
