how to connect vga laptop to hdmi tv

my laptop has vga port only and the tv is hdmi im trying to project and extend its not working ... my laptop resolution max is 1366 x 768 . and its not detecting the tv

You would need an active adapter. VGA has only analog signal and needs to be converted to digital. That rarely works with TVs.
