How to control DC motor with software.

I have an old dvd drive I took apart and I want to use the motor mechanism of it to make a motorised shelf for my pc, the shelf will fit in the 5.25 inch drive bay. So my question is how can I connect it to my computer to make the motor turn 4 times and then turn four times again in opposite direction to close the shelf. The shelf itself will be similar to the way an optical drive works, press the button or click the button on the pc and it will push out the tray then back in again at another push of a button. Thank you.
