How to control H115i cooler fans with AI Suite 3

I want to control the cooling fans for the H115i radiator with AI Suite 3 so I can use 5-way optimization (I have an Z170 pro gaming/aura mobo). The pump is already connected to the mobo using the included USB cable. Then it wants me to connect the two fans into the pump block which then is connected to the CPU_FAN. How do I connect the fans so I don't have to do that last step?

Use a splitter, connect directly to cpu_fan header. The only reason Corsair insists you connect the fans through the pump is because the Corsair Link software is controlled via the USB connection. Just connected via the Sata cable for power, the pump will run full speed. Using the pumps fan cable on an open sys_fan header will show only its rpm,

The usb cable is for the use of the corsair link software so not necessary if wanting this.. To use the fans via the AI Suite do you connect them via the motherboard cpu fan headers and connect the pump to a chassis fanheader.
