I am trying to convert a .drv file from a recorded camera in bar to use as evidence in a trial. But I cannot find a conversion tool to do this. Anybody know of one?
Do you mean .dvr video files.
Since DVR is wrapped with multiple data streams (audio and video), it is not widely recognized by most of the media players or video editing software. If a recorded broadcast is marked as copy protected, the resultant DVR file can only be played back on the recording device. If the recorded DVR file is unprotected, it can only be played back on device running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 or later Windows operating systems, hotfix 810243 for Windows XP RTM (which adds DVR-MS support to DirectShow), and on Windows Mobile 6. And even the unprotected DVR can not be edited by Windows Movie Maker for Windows XP.
To make DVR or the extended WTV file widely accepted by most media player or video editing software, we had better convert the original or extended DVR to more popular video formats including AVI, MPEG, MP4, WMV, FLV, MKV, VOB, ASF and more.
I know a step by step guide on how to convert DVR to popular video formats; it is also available for converting the extended DVR that is WTV to various video formats at
