I have a standard mid-size basic PC that I'd like to use as similarly to a laptop as possible. It won't be leaving the house but it needs to be stored and then put on the kitchen table when in use. I'm trying to figure out a way to do so. Any ideas I've seen involve using a mini mobo or a NUC. The whole point is to save money avoiding buying a laptop or small form factor parts. Does anyone have any ideas of a cheap case or custom case build to do this? I'd appreciate any input.

mount the system to the bottom/underside/unused/unseen part of the table itself. run the cables to the edge of the tables for fast connection.

assumes the table is THE place where the system is needed

Yeah that's what I want to do but it's not an option. It's for my dad actually and he doesn't want it mounted to the table >_<
