Hey there guys. Can somebody tell me how to cool components better during gaming ?.Thunder Master says my GPU temperature is 60C normally.Running World of Wacraft on settings 5/10 with v-sync on it goes up to 70C.If i go with max (10) settings with vsync on, its around 80C on both settings fan duty is set to 30%.Is it safe to speed it up ?,i think it can damage the fans. Also Nvidia stated that my card can tolerate 97C.

These are my components and its temperature according to Piriform Speccy :
I5-4690 - 23C temperature
GTX 1050 - 17C
Asrock H81 - 23C
1 TB HDD - 26C

Im going to buy Cooler Master 212x in a few days,so no worries about my CPU.Im only worried about my GPU.So what would you suggest to make this better ?

Solution
No matter how good the fans on the card work, if the case isn't venting air, you're just recirculating hot air.
Fans? Highly important. Fans will wear and tear with use, no matter which ones or where they are on the case. Set up fan curves based on operating temperatures. It's not going to burn out your fans tomorrow if you have them running at a decent percentage only when gaming. If it does though, that's obviously a warranty issue. Most fans are manufactured to last at 150k hours running time at 100% I've noticed. It depends on who made it and their specs. That's a very long running time and you're not even going to run it at 100% a lot of the time. Just set up the fans to run it at good running temps wherever needed. It requires...
I use MSI Afterburner to create a custom fan curve that increases the fan speed with the temp of the GPU. Once my GPU hits 75C it will be running at 95% fan speed. Some GPUs won't need to run as fast to keep the temps down (lucky), but luckily for me, my GPU fans aren't that loud.

You shouldnt need to set anything, the default is for it to use an automatic thermal fan curve.

Yeah program is OK with my Sapphire card, btw 1 question if you can answer, how much % RPM you set for 45 deg. C temperature? Mine is 45% for 45C just asking .

That's a hard one to answer as GPUs are all pretty well different. You'll have to experiment with RPM and Temps. If you set a value and the temp is too high, increase the RPM. It could take a little time to dial it in perfect for you, but it will be worth it in the long run.

Sorry for asnwering this late,i was busy.Even raising my fan speed has not improved my temperature. If i put my settings in WoW to "1" my temperature is 70c,on "10" it goes up to 95C.Ive seen a benchmark with GTX 750ti paired with I5 4440 on ultra "10" settings and its 75c max. There is something wrong with my GPU definately.

How old is your GFX card?

Which case do you have?

How many fans do you have?

How many are set to intake and how many are set to exhaust?

MSI AB can be used with any GFX card manufacturer. I use it for my EVGA 970 FTW.

The 1050TI has a higher TDP(75W vs 60W) which suggests it will get hotter and take more to cool it.

I guess you're asking me about release date of GTX 1050,and its october 2016.My case is shity, its Rhino RX1011,maybe that could cause higher temperature.GTX 1050 Palit has only one fan,but still Palit is known to be good in cooling as far as i know.Im using Thunder Master, pretty same as MSI AB.

And i have no clue how many are set to intake/exhaust,i dont even know how to check it lol 😀

 no idea how to check that? Okay Popi. So you have a bad case? Are you from Serbia? I'd order a fan for the side panel if you don't already have one installed. That will feed the GFX/case more air.

I was asking when you purchased that card. What I was wondering is if the fins inside could be clogged with dust. That could explain the heat issue. Canned air can help.

Does it have a fan on the rear of the case? Is it blowing out of the case? That's exhaust. Do you have a fan in front of the case? If it is blowing towards your motherboard that's intake.

Can you contact Palit? It is still under warranty.

Its that obvious? hahaha ye im from Serbia.I might do that soon,i totally forgot about side fans.I actually bought a new pc like a week ago,so no way it has dust in it.Air is coming on the side and back of the case,so i guess its exhaust.I havent tested other games besides WoW i might do GTA 5 soon, but ive seen many people complaining about their GPU temperature when playing wow even with way better GPUs like GTX 1080.

It requires tuning for every specific situation. MSI Afterburner has a great system. I used it for my GTX 1080 Strix (ASUS).

Ye i guess i can blame the case, what type of case i should look for when buying a good one ? 150k hours on 100% thats around 15 years right ? it sounds really a lot and impossible tbh 😀.Is there a way to check it ? im curious about palit gtx 1050.Ill try out MSI Afterburner right now.

I can send you a recommendation for a case I'm using currently. It's all personal preference.

What's your budget for cases?

Are you in the market to buy a new case if needed?

Another thing to consider is with a 212, that's an air based cooler. All the air will be vented directly inside the case. You're going to need to exhaust that air as quickly as possible. Those fans will need to spin as fast as needed, so fan curves will be entirely necessary for that.

I hope it has a front fan.Try and breathe with only exhaling.

Odd that adjusting the fan curve didn't change the temperature. Could you hear the fan? If you increase it to say 60% at 60C is there any change? Still I would contact Palit and see if they could help. If I have a problem with my 970 I call EVGA.

Good luck and yeah, the recommendation for a new case with proper fans and airflow is a good idea.

I highly recommend these cases right here. I'm currently using one. It does come with some fans, and your existing fans should be able to mount in there also.
It allows for a 280mm radiator in the front, up to a 360mm if you remove the bottom plate in the front that goes on the PSU cover shelf.

Here's a link to my PCPartPicker build showcasing that case itself.

It's relatively cheap with the parts it comes with, and it doesn't have all the flashy water cooling system mounts for custom water cooling loops, which is unnecessary considering you're going for air cooled.

Have you considered the Noctua NH-D15? It's a comparatively priced air cooler and performs on par with and in some cases better than water cooled closed loop systems.

To address what you're saying, 10 series cards come with GPU Boost (not just 10 series but most modern cards). What this does is it allows for built in boost clocking, which is effectively overclocking, but also protects the card from excessive use. If it gets too hot it throttles it, but what happens is if you turn the fans up it cools it, therefore allowing for more usage, which in turn, if the system is asking for even more power on top of what it was trying to get, will require MORE power, which generates more heat. So, unless the GPU can output more than the system is asking, it will always be throttled by, what looks like, heat. If you can solve the heat problem, then it will probably turn into a TDP or Voltage problem. Best bet, if you're getting more than the FPS of your monitor refresh rate, USE VSYNC. If you're getting less, turn down graphics settings until it gets to a reasonable, stable FPS (30-60). It takes the load off the card, because anything in excess of the monitors output is a waste anyways. If you can't get the settings lower, or don't want to, solve the heat problem, or upgrade the card, since the other two problems will arise which are just physical limitations of the card.

Opening the side of the case in a normal tower setup is terrible. Air doesn't circulate properly. Closed case systems are setup a certain way to act like a wind tunnel. Open case setups are done entirely different, so I can't help you there. Leave the side on.

Agreed.

Not sure what can be done apart from better airflow. What's the ambient temp? Looks to be about 15C or a bit cooler. There are 1050Ti cards that have 2 fans. Then again it seems that card should be running cooler http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-ti,4787-7.html So very odd. The card idles at 17C and at load is up to 80C? hm....

Unfortunately i cant get those cases you mentioned. But ive seen some good ones for around 100 euros with 2x front and 1x back fans with similar dimensions.Thats not a problem.I can buy both cpu coolers, which one is better ? people advertise 212x and evo a lot.
