Aside from 50% quicker battery drain, overheating, Bluetooth, & language (?) issues, what is affecting my daily work most from the latest Windows 10 updates, is this touchpad jitter. Adjusting mouse sensitivity to it's lowest setting does not slow the jitter, and all external USB mice function properly. In Mouse Properties>Pointer Options, when I uncheck Enhance pointer "precision" the mouse shake converts to mouse earthquake.

The cause of this? Even the slightest touch from the AC adapter plug to the charging port, or HDMI connection to TV external displays. I do not see the correlation, & am at a loss.

I've uninstalled & wiped the new ELAN driver, which 10 decided I needed versus my previous from Synaptics. I've also tried everything on this ASUS thread, to no avail. Even with basic touchpad features (movement, click) of the ASUS Support Device, the jitter is present. This does not appear to be software dependent, as I can faithfully reproduce the same result from connecting the charger or HDMI.

There's the obvious IT solution of reverting back to Windows 8.1, or perhaps a fresh install of Windows 10, but we all know how time-consuming that process is.

I trust there's a mind out there with the technical knowledge to fix this. Thanks for any input, community!

I was having this problem too, https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/765v37/to...

I fixed it by manually installing ELAN drivers. N550JV uses touchpad made by Elan like other ASUS notebooks. Manually installing 16.11.3.2 driver in device manager forces Windows precision touchpad to operate where you can get simple gestures etc. within the Windows settings. Single-tap cursor jitter is also gone completely!

So, all in all, it was bad software/driver suite (ASUS Smart Gesture) which caused this issue in the first place.

If your notebook uses Synaptic touchpad then you need synaptic drivers. Search for "enabling windows precision touchpad" and you will see. Like this one: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-precision-tou...

edit: you need to uninstall all touchpad driver/software completely beforehand.

Had jittery touch pad on ASUS Q504UAK after 2 years of use. Tried all suggestions, nothing helped. Saw that a new touch pad cost $30. Replacing the pad is not difficult if you've worked in one of these before and are familiar with ribbon cables, etc. Lots of little screws that need special screwdrivers, a couple of items to remove inside for access to the pad, then reassemble. It fixed my problems. So if all else fails, you probably need a new pad.
