How to correct keyboard keys

Chances are the wrong keyboard type was selected during setup (or later).

Go to Control Panel -> Clock, Language, & Region -> Change Keyboards or other input methonds.

In this window you can change the keyboard to the appropriate layout.

Are you using a Laptop? Sounds like the NUMLOCK is on - this often maps the keypad keys to the right-hand part of the keyboard on laptops, meaning 3 comes up when you press L. Look for the key marked NUMLOCK, usually top right on your keyboard when you press it the numlock light should go off
