How to cover up the side of the case

(Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this; I am completely new to the site and computers.)

Does anybody have any creative (and safe) ways to cover up the side of my computer (the one that has the panel to install components)? I installed my graphics card yesterday, and the attachments on the cords of the new power supply are about a quarter inch longer than the older ones, thus the side panel on my case in unable to slide back on. I know I should get a new case, but as a temporary solution until I can buy one, is there anything (SAFE!) that I can put on it that will vent it like it is supposed to? I don't really want to keep my PC open like this.

It is safe to not have a side panel but if you really want to cover it with something I would recommend getting some cling film, i'm sure some people will disagree but that will do the job in my opinion.

I mean, yeah, plastic wrap is safe, but he said he wants to keep the venting capabilities of the side panel, unless you put some holes in it. I don't think this is it.
It doesn't really protect the PC from anything, except dust, if you were to kick the side accidentally, the side panel would protect it, this, not so much, it is essentially worse than it being open(because it restricts airflow).

No I can't; the end of the cable sticks out about 1/4 inch further than the other one (the other one was flush). It blocks panel from sliding in.

Probably not going to use plastic wrap... but thanks for the answer! I think I might buy a sheet of plexiglass and make a kind of makeshift side panel that sticks up a bit.
