I have an XP SP2 disk, The Setup.exe file is dated 2-28-2006

1. Where can I download ALL files and updates to create a current
up to date install disk as of today

I know how to slipstream but I need a source for all the files. Just searching
for files is not possible. Too many files, certain files must be installed before others

There must be some master file from Microsoft that I can download and incorporate
into my SP2 disk that will give me a complete install disk for up tp date SP#

Thanks in advance

Mike

You'll never be able to get all device drivers for the thousands of devices out there. You best bet is to download SP3 and any updates that came after it from microsoft's download site, then incorporate any driver's necessary for your current hardware, mainly your chipset drivers for your motherboard.

I never mentioned anything about DRIVERS

Did you even read my question?

When you buy any O.S. do you have to give them a list of
components before they sell you the disk?

Completely ridiculous answer.....

Here you go, some pretty good instructions:

I would also highly recommend slipstreaming SATA drivers. With newer computers, you won't be able to successfully boot, detect the hard drive, and install Windows XP without SATA drivers. You will have to determine the correct SATA drivers for the machine, then follow the instructions here:

PS, I wouldn't get too hung up/obsessed on having the absolute latest updates. After April 8 there will be new vulnerabilities that will never be patched, so regardless of the patches that you do have, there will still be risks that have to be mitigated.

After April 8, do what I'll do:

1) practice common sense browsing habits,
2) run an award-winning program like Avast Free Antivirus which celebrates 25th anniversary this year, and
3) run another excellent antimalware programs like MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

I have machines/laptops running Windows 9.x, NT and 2000. They haven't been patched in years but I have never had any problems.

It's like an old classic car without seat belts, you simply have to be more careful when driving it, and get a regular inspection (analogous to an antivirus real-time protection or scan)

I hate to put it this way, but some people will drive classic cars without seat belts or air bags. And the risk increases in the event of an accident, they will die.
