How to customize Action Center in Windows 10

Action Center in Windows 10 took the notifications in Windows 8 and made them more accessible, easier to use and generally much more useful. Whether you use your computer for work, rest or play, being notified of what’s going on is invaluable. But did you know you can customize Action Center in Windows 10?

Customize the Action Center in Windows 10
If you don’t want an alert every time an email arrives or when your system updates itself, you can quickly tune Action Center to your whim. You can tune each app individually or set global rules for how everything works.

1. Navigate to Settings, System, and Notifications & actions.
2. Select ‘Add or remove quick actions’ to do just that.
3. Select or deselect apps from under ‘Get notifications from these senders’ to control whether they notify you or not.
4. Click each app for further configuration options.

The options within each app differs depending on the particular app. Many have granular control over exactly what, when and where they alert you. Other apps will have a simple on/off switch.

Unless you’re new to Windows, I would suggest turning off ‘Show me tips about Windows’ as it can be quite annoying. The others, Show app notifications, Show notifications on the lock screen, Show alarms, reminders, and incoming VOIP calls on the lock screen and Hide notifications while presenting are all quite useful although your mileage may vary.
