Operating System is win8.1 with hard disk 1TB.Want to defrag. But I've made several partitions so will I have to defrag each partition or just the main drive that is C: where windows is installed.Because when I open defragment tool that is "Optimize Drives" after navigating to X:>Properties>Tools>Optimize. All of the partitions including hidden that is "Recovery" partition and "System Reserved" partition with C: and other partitions O: ,E: and G:.Which means I have three partitions with one main that is C: where windows, itself is stored.

Solution
One by one each. Partitions are separated and defragging one partition would not affect the others.

Example: Defragged c drive, but d drive and e drive still need a defragment. In other words, it has to be one by one.
Yes, if you want to defrag all partitions you can but don't need to. Simply defragging only the partitions you use mainly for storage would be beneficial

Use a program like defraggler since it is more effective than the built in windows defragmentation tool
